My comment on Germany Germany ji's post regarding regulatory authority for hydropower companies.
The main regulator should and could be Hydropower Development Board (Jalbidhut Bikash Board), Ministry of Energy. But, its regulatory roles are not clearly defined. Hence, it is not playing effective regulatory roles as such. The other two regulators are Sebon and Company Registrar's Office (CRO). The CRO was asked to play effective role in regard to NHPC'S AGM. AS usual, Sebon is another regulator and it has been playing peripheral roles. Yes, it is time to make Hydropower Development Board effective and empowered, or a new regulatory agency needs to be established. Are Ministry of Energy, Sebon and CRO listening?
